Floer Centre of Geometry

Research at the FCG

Scientific Research is closely related with the search for new geometric structures and for symmetries. Modern mathematics contributes the broadly defined concept of a space and a toolbox for its investigation. Spaces come up in different areas of applications like knotted DNA molecules or time-space models of the universe or a space of solutions of a system of equations.

At the Floer centre of geometry spaces are investigated for their shape and symmetries. Typical tools are quantities like curvature, group actions or homology groups. The FCG bundles the following branches of Geometry to a research group and represents an international platform for the scientific exchange:

The FCG was founded in 2011 at the Ruhr-University Bochum. The Floer memorial lectures started in the same year. Here distinguished scientists give an introduction to their work of study.
